Surveillance to Selfie is a joint film programme focused on two phenomenons of contemporary culture: the development of the surveillance society, and the increasing fascination with taking and sharing “selfie” photographs. Film screenings, interactive installations, presentations, and more sidebar events will explore what film and popular culture reveal about the normalisation of both.

This weekend of events is curated and organized by students from the University of Edinburgh’s Film, Exhibition and Curation MSc programme. Previous FEC collaborations with the Glasgow Film Festival include Power Suit Yourself (2015), Nort Atlantik Drift (2014), Carnival featuring Black Orpheus (2013), Weimarvellous (2012) and The Stasi Are Among Us (2011).
